I love this city

I love london. this is where I grew up and where I feel at home. I love all of it – shops, galleries, restaurants, parks, the eccentric people, even the tube.

But what most people forget or don’t manage to see is that it is beautiful. I got sent this link yesterday (thank you btw) and the photos are gorgeous.

They are taken by jason hawkes, a uk based photographer that specialises in aerial photography. I find something new to love about this city every day. And I’ve lived here a while now…

rainbow rooftops

this is one I didn’t think to try to capture before but it’s way too beautiful not to share.

the very first thing I do when it is raining and the sun comes out is to look the other way to find the rainbow.

I notice not a whole lot of people do this but I am always the one grinning like an idiot until the rainbow goes away or people start to stare at me.

a 180 degree view like this is not something you get to see all that often. must have been a lucky day.

Spring rooftops

I’ve held of taking these as I was waiting for a blue sky, sunshine and for all the leaves to be out on the trees. It feels like it’s been a while.

now I have them but spring is very nearly over. I wanted to capture the really fresh green of the leaves and the really clear air before this part of town gets all grimy and sticky over the summer.

not complaining though. I love London in the summer.
