I’ve finally relented and got me a maxi dress. Somewhat typically it is a slim fitting plain black one.

I have a horror of most things floaty, floral, bohemian or hippy looking (on me – not other people) so have struggled with this one. I like the Grecian style dresses that are out at the moment, especially the ones with chains instead of shoulder straps. Frustratingly they all seem to be empire line which is not a great look on me.

Anyway, this one was a bargain £18 from topshop. I’ll be wearing it on lazy weekend days and for a chilled night or two on holiday. Win.

I’ve been wanting to wear this combination for ages: mink heels, layered peach tops and mid blue denim shorts (a recent bargain purchased from H&M). It was another that came from dumping everything on the floor and seeing what I could match.

Except that today outside my window, it was resolutely not summer. Hence the very thick black tights. They did mean I could wear the shorts with a leather jacket which leant the whole thing a pleasing tough edge.

Might try bare legs and ankle socks with a lace trim next but that will need a careful think!

I love love love love my new bag. I’ve had my eye on it for ages and now finally have it. what a beauty! nothing like something pretty to remove the january blues.
