Vintage sequin goodness

I was out at Kinky Malinki @ Matter last night to celebrate my little sister’s birthday. I’d been looking for a new dress or a pair of shoes for ages but hadn’t found anything that was me enough.

The girls there all look great but you can be sure that at least one other person will be wearing the same dress as you. And what I’m seeing in Topshop or ASOS at the moment isn’t worth the kind of money they are asking for.

SO, yesterday I headed over to Beyond Retro, my absolute favourite place to get slightly different party wear. This beautiful pink party dress was bought from there for about £15 a few years ago.

And this lovely thing was what I came back with. I saw it on the hanger, fell in love with it and knew that if it fitted I had to have it. Perfect.

Ed Banger

This is the video for Cassius ‘I <3 U So’ which was released a while back on their Rawkers EP. It’s getting a remix by Skream and a re-release as a single on Valentines day.

I’ve been listening to Cassius a lot lately and it’s reminded me just how much I like the Ed Banger sound. The Paris based label  formed in 2002 and has Cassius, Uffie, Justice and Breakbot under their wing.

Their special blend of disco, house and electro scores a lot of points with me. A night out in Paris might be on the cards… Anyone want to join?

Synth Glasgow

Time for an unashamed big up.

Synth Glasgow is a new music blog covering independent club nights, the work of local producers, plus interviews with the promoters & DJ’s who are pushing the scene forward.

They cover disco, dubstep, drum & bass, techno & electro and regularly post links to sweet soundcloud mixes. This week I have been mostly listening Synth Autumn 10, a very cool and diverse mix of a lot of the best tracks out there right now.

There’s also a post dedicated to Mighty Mouse with a link to a new mix. I do love a bit of disco.
