Big New Year plans

Good things are going to happen in 2012 – I can feel it. If not, I’ll be making them happen anyway. I also turn 30 in November so I have a few things I need to get sorted before then:

Running races

This idea started as a drunken Christmas party dare but now it’s actually going to happen… I’ll be running the Bupa London 10k in May and then the Nike Run to the Beat half marathon in October. It’s a little daunting right now but I do so much better when I have a goal to aim for. Anyone want to sponsor me?

Ibiza

One of my oldest friends and I have a trip in September planned to celebrate a few 30th birthdays in one go. I’ll be chatting about that constantly come the summer.

Moving house

I’ll be waving goodbye to Camden when I buy my own flat in July. It would be amazing to live here but, unless I rob a bank, it’s not going to happen. I’ll be sat on the floor for a few months but it will be worth the hassle to have a place I can call my own.

I’m most certainly looking forward to picking out furniture and making the place my own. Looking at interior design blogs like DesignLoveFest and Emma’s DesignBlogg are keeping me saving.

Kitten

My own flat might mean my own garden which means I can get a cat. Not so I can be a gin lady though. That’s not the plan.

Building the UX empire at iris

We’re still looking for a new junior. We have some amazing work on the way and it’s gonna be fun…

Making the most of my spare time

The ONLY New Year’s resolution I’ll be making this year is to achieve a better work/life/play/run/dance balance. I love my job and I don’t want to burn out. I find it very easy to take on too much work (perfectionist you say?) but a lot more difficult to let it go again. I need to teach myself to use my time to maximum effect and that might mean saying no more often.

Mostly, I suppose I just wanted to say how massively excited I am about 2012. Every year just seems to bring better and better things for me. I work hard at making good stuff happen – it’s fabulous to begin to feel the benefit of that effort.

The French style obsession continues…

At the end of the year I start thinking about new year’s resolutions. A bit clichéd I know. I’ve learnt the lesson not to set the bar too high but that’s a whole other post.

Two of them are going to be French themed:

  1. keep trying to walk the path of immaculately considered yet nonchalant dressing like une parisienne
  2. persevere with not letting my French speaking skills desert me

I’m recovering from a big night out today so have had loads of time to catch up on blog reading and set my resolve. This list of French beauty tips from Glamour tipped me over the edge.

Now I’m obsessing over this gorgeous Lancaster bag in gold, I’m definitely going to buy some Bensimon trainers (raving shoe replacements) and I love these hair tutorials.

To keep committed, I’ve subscribed to the digital edition of French Glamour. I prefer their edit – it has less emphasis on fast fashion and real life stories, giving more time to street style and celebration of style icons. It also helps me keep my reading skills going.

Granted – I’ll know more fashion terms than anything else but that might not be a bad thing… They will come in handy when I’m next in Paris or Nice.

Happy new year

Oh wow. I’ve been neglecting this blog somewhat. I don’t have many excuses except that December is always mega busy and I’ve recently started a new job.

I did get a mini review of my blog from WordPress this morning though and apparently it’s health is good though. So thank you for reading :-)

I got 6,500 visits, made 135 posts and uploaded 145 pictures. That makes an average of 2.6 posts and 3 photos a week.

My busiest day of the year was March 30th with 140 views. I got a mention in Spanish Vogue and a link to my new season fashion post.

My new year’s resolutions are to sleep more and blog more. We’ll see hey? I’ll leave you with my favourite photo – a dramatic Camden sunset taken back in April. Happy 2011!
